Main mission

To define, plan and execute regulatory efficacy and selectivity trials across EU27+UK for plant protection products (conventional and biocontrol) and biostimulants

Scope

  • Dimension: EU27 + UK
  • Objectives of the job: Successful data generation to support the registration of plant protection products and biostimulants in EU, in full compliance with regulations and within budget

Position in the organization chart

  • Report to: Product Development Manager
  • In contact with BAD specialists, Regional Regulatory Managers, Regional Marketing Managers, Sampling, Country Development and Regulatory Managers

Job expectations

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Define the regulatory efficacy strategy of projects under responsibility, alongside cost, risk and timeline
  • Establish protocols, select and manage CROs, distribute and co-ordinate regulatory trials to CROs throughout EU27+UK, manage samples, present projects data summary, report and archive
  • Manage and produce data to be used in Biological Assessment Dossiers to support the agreed product strategy
  • Assist to answer questions on efficacy regulatory trials from Regulators within precise deadlines
  • Set standards for protocols, reports and data formats ensuring they comply with EPPO guidelines
  • Assess scientific / biological data for each product within each country and identify data gaps for the production of Biological Assessment Dossiers and notify these requirements to the appropriate Product Development Manager
  • Identify and interpret changes to the efficacy regulations and recommend strategies to encompass them in day-to-day operations
  • Ensure all work is economically justified and manage approved budget ensuring short fallings or under spend are recognized and reported to management
  • Provide regular updates to Product Development Manager, Project Team and RD head
  • Be an active member of the group, providing guidance and mentoring to the junior members. Contribute to the maintenance of a biological database for efficient data processing in main regulatory formats
  • Collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and functional groups
  • Attend and contribute to category family meetings
  • Contribute to early project phases discussions to accelerate and optimize transition to Capex phase
  • Provide audit and guidance to contract research organizations
  • Contribute to develop processes and tools to increase the performance of the department

Key competencies required for the role

  • Deep knowledge of EPPO guidelines
  • Good organization skills and experience of working in multi-disciplinary project teams with the ability to manage simultaneous multiple projects to deadline
  • Broad range of experience in biological efficacy testing in greenhouses and field situations across all product disciplines – main focus herbicides & fungicides
  • An experience in biosolutions would be a plus (biocontrol / biostimulant)
  • Ability to understand, interpret and assess biological data to review trial reports and BADs
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative and team building skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong experience with ARM and ARM ST software. Computer literacy for the use of MSOffice software.
  • A sound knowledge of agronomy, crop protection practices and understanding of plant protection products
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as GEP and with countries requirements for trials set up (import permits…)

Expertise applied (i.e. job requirements reeducation, background, languages…)

  • 5-10 years industry or contractor experience
  • Agronomist or similar (BSc, equivalent or higher)
  • English (CEFR B2, equivalent or higher)
